The YMCA: Feed, Educate, and Elevate
This is something you hear often at the YMCA of Greater Boston, and it resonates with us at Farm2Future too! Getting kids to snack on healthier products is the first step toward a more comprehensive understanding of their food. Since many inner city youth have never planted anything let alone viewed a working farm in action, this is an opportunity to educate them in fun, interactive ways. They can develop a deeper appreciation for food, how it’s made, and why eating healthier will help them in everything they do.
“By encouraging children to get their hands in the soil and get more connected with the source of their food, the Farm2Future program will help the YMCA to improve the health of mind, body, and spirit of children in our communities.” – James Morton, CEO of the YMCA of Greater Boston
